AVODA House Academy

The Formation Pathway within the House

Newcomers begin with a Pre-Academy Orientation before entering the Academy.

Our
Purpose

The AVODA House Academy is the formation pathway within the House and is designed to provide in depth biblical teaching and relational discipleship for those who desire faith integrated in their everyday life.

This is not a degree you “complete”. This is formation over time. God is not in a rush. Neither are we.

Our Rhythm

The AVODA House Academy forms people through a seasonal rhythm of learning, engagement in ordinary life, and intentional rest.

At AVODA House, formation is not driven by pressure or performance. It is shaped through relationship, Scripture, and the quiet work of the Holy Spirit over time.

Discipleship within the Academy touches four key areas:

  1. Spiritual foundations and discipleship

  2. Leadership and service in the home and the Church

  3. Faithful stewardship in work and vocation

  4. Understanding civics and the public square

The Academy gathers live on Wednesdays at 8:00pm Eastern Time (U.S.) via Zoom.

Newcomers begin with a Pre-Academy Orientation before entering the Academy.

Pre-Academy Enrollment

The AVODA House Academy is open to anyone and freely offered at no cost. All newcomers begin in the Pre-Academy and complete an Orientation Cycle, which serves as the starting point for officially entering the Academy.

Newcomers are encouraged to:

  • Experience the patient pace of discipleship.

  • Engage consistently with the formation sessions.

  • Ask questions and pray about growing here over time.

Below, you’ll find what to expect during the Pre-Academy

Pre-Academy: Orientation Cycle

Before joining the AVODA House Academy, all new guests begin with a short Orientation Cycle.

Orientation is a time to explore the Academy, experience the rhythm of our gatherings, and decide if you would like to continue.

After enrolling, you will receive access to a self-paced orientation course which includes:

• A welcome video

You may begin reviewing this material as soon as you enroll.

Academy Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes.

The AVODA House Academy is currently free to enroll.

Our heart is to make discipleship and formation accessible to anyone who desires to grow in their walk with God.

While the Academy is free, those who feel led are welcome to support the work of AVODA House through voluntary donations, which help sustain the ministry and the development of future courses and resources.

  • Orientation is an 8 week introduction to AVODA House.

    Orientation includes two complementary parts:

    1. Orientation Course (Available Anytime)
The Orientation Course can be completed at your own pace and is available anytime. It walks through the foundations and structure of AVODA House and explains how the Academy functions as a pathway of formation.

    2. Live Weekly Sessions
Throughout the year, we also host live sessions that gather people for teaching and discussion. These sessions vary in formation topic and level of engagement, allowing people to experience the rhythms and life of the House while growing alongside others in community.

During Orientation you will be introduced to:

    • The theology and culture of AVODA House

    • Foundations of biblical formation and rhythms of the House

    • The Academy structure and how it functions as a formation pathway

Orientation helps participants discern whether AVODA House is the right place for them to grow.

  • All new guests begin in Pre-Academy by completing an Orientation Cycle.

Official Orientation Cycles take place three times per year:

    • Spring

    • Summer

    • Fall

These cycles allow new guests to walk through Orientation together as a cohort.

Once an Orientation Cycle officially begins, guests receive access to 8 weeks of live Academy sessions, held every Wednesday at 8:00 PM Eastern Time (U.S.) via Zoom.

The self-paced Orientation Course can be completed anytime, but live sessions are only available during Orientation Cycles and are not recorded.

  • Not at this time.

The live sessions are not recorded and are intended to be experienced live online with the community.

This helps preserve the relational and participatory nature of the sessions.

If you are unable to attend a live session, you can still complete:

    • The Orientation course

    • Any available courses and learning materials

These can be accessed at your own pace.

  • Right now, the Orientation Course is the primary course available in the Academy.

Additional courses are currently in development and will be released over time as the Academy grows.

Our goal is to build a library of formation based courses that equip believers to live faithfully in every area of life, including topics related to spiritual formation, family discipleship, leadership, marketplace calling, and government.

Some courses will also offer certificates of completion for those who finish the full curriculum.

As new courses are released, they will be made available through the Academy platform.

  • No.

The AVODA House Academy does not grant academic degrees.

The Academy is designed as a discipleship and formation pathway, equipping believers through biblical teaching, practical application, and community life rather than formal academic accreditation.

  • No.

    Anyone may join the Academy.

However, the Academy is designed to support the life and rhythms of AVODA House communities, so participants often benefit most when they are connected to a local AVODA House or spiritual community.

  • Yes, though live engagement is important.

The Academy meets Wednesdays at 8:00pm Eastern Time (U.S.), and sessions are not designed for asynchronous engagement.

  • There is no strict minimum age requirement.

People simply need to be able to understand and engage with the teaching material.

Because AVODA House emphasizes whole family discipleship, families may choose to learn together.

  • Yes.

The Academy content is designed with whole family discipleship in mind, and many families may find the material helpful for homeschool discipleship and biblical worldview formation.

Parents are encouraged to adapt the teachings in ways that best serve their family’s learning environment.

  • Yes, in certain situations.

If the account is for parents participating together with their underage children, one household account is welcome.

However, if multiple adults or young adults are participating (for example adult siblings, roommates, or adult children), we recommend that each person create their own individual account.

This helps us communicate clearly with each participant regarding:

    • Academy emails and updates

    • Text message reminders

    • Personal check-ins or house appointments

    • Course participation and formation steps

Individual accounts allow us to pastor, communicate, and support each person more effectively during the Academy journey.
